5. Stanley John JOHNSON [ Parents ]. Born 1868 in Shoreditch, Stanley John died 2/4/1936 in Whetstone, age 68. An entry in the National Probate Calendar reads: “JOHNSON Stanley John of 44 Athanaeum Road, Whetstone, Middlesex died 2 April 1936 Probate London 25 May to Derek Cuffe Johnson company director and Philip Henry Mosey solicitors clerk. Effects £14,213 17s 5d.” (Worth around £960,866 today.) Occupation: Valuer (1895); Appraiser of licensed property and effects (1901); Public house broker (1911). On 7/8/1895, when Stanley John was age about 26, he married Pollie CUFFE , daughter of Eugene Augustus CUFFE , a box maker, and Mary Ann ARTHUR , in St Thomas’ Church, Clapton Common. Pollie was born 10/2/1870 in Islington and died 1906 in Hackney, age 36. They had no children. In about 1909, when Stanley John was age about 40, he married Pollie’s sister Ellen Theresa CUFFE , in Hackney. Ellen Theresa was born 6/10/1877 in Brockley, London and died about 1972 in Barnet, age 94. They had the following children: (1) Derek Cuffe , born 8/3/1910 in Barnet and died December 1998 in Hendon, age 88. (2) Stanley Guy , born 5/11/1913 in Barnet and died 10/3/2009 in London, age 95. 6. Clarence Aubrey JOHNSON [ Parents ]. Born 12/2/1873 in Hackney and baptized 23/3/1873 in St John, Hackney. Clarence Aubrey died 9/8/1960 in The Cottage Hospital, Cobham, Surrey, age 87. An entry in the National Probate Calendar reads: “JOHNSON Clarence Aubrey of Apple Trees Foley Road Claygate Surrey died 9 August 1960 at The Cottage Hospital Cobham Surrey Probate London 6 October to Barbara Eleanor Johnson spinster and Michael Christopher Broughton Hurd solicitor. Effects £192 17s. 10d.” (Worth around £4,285 today.) Occupation: Auctioneer and Surveyor; Public house broker (1911). On 19/9/1906, when Clarence Aubrey was age 33, he married Eleanor Violet ATWELL , daughter of William and Eleanor ATWELL , in St Michael and All Angels, Stoke Newington, London. Eleanor was born 1884 in Hackney and died 1915 in Hampstead, age about 30. They had the following child: (1) Barbara Eleanor , born 1909 in Hackney. 7. Edward Henry JOHNSON [ Parents ]. Born 9/11/1868 in St George in the East and baptized there 29/11/1868. Edward Henry died in 1929 in Camberwell, age 60. Occupation: Paper hanger. On 10/1/1903, when Edward Henry was age 34, he married Sarah BARTINGALE , daughter of William Samuel BARTINGALE , a Railway guard, in St Michael’s Church, Battersea. Sarah was born about 1881 in Kew, Surrey. It is not known when she died. They had the following children: (1) Florence , born about 1905 in Walthamstow. (2) Edward , born about 1906 in Tooting. (3) Frances , born 1910 in Shadwell. 8. James Robert JOHNSON [ Parents ]. Born 28/12/1864 in St George in the East and baptized there 22/7/1865. By the time of his marriage in 1885 James Robert was calling himself “Robert James” and that remained the case for the rest of his life. He died 6/8/1936 in The German Hospital, Dalston, age 71. Cause of death: Carcinoma of pancreas, certified by W. B. Purchase, Coroner for County of London, after post mortem without inquest. Death reported by his daughter Ethel Ling, 21 Mildmay Street, Islington. He was buried on 13/8/1936 in Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington. Occupation: Tobacco cutter. On 27/11/1885 when Robert James was 20, he married Frances Elizabeth PARRIS , daughter of William PARRIS and Mary LUCHFORD , in Maidstone, Kent. Born 11/9/1865 in Upper Halling, Frances Elizabeth died 8/1/1931, age 65. She was buried 24/1/1931 in Abney Park Cemetery, Stoke Newington. They had the following children: (1) Mary Florence , born 22/4/1887 in Maidstone. Mary Florence died 7/1/1973 in Frome, Somerset, age 85. In December 1909, when Mary Florence was age 22, she married George Alfred SLATER (1886-?) in Hackney. (2) Gertrude Annie , born 1888 in Maidstone. On 12/4/1914, When Gertrude was age 25, she married James Thomas Lindley HODGE , son of James HODGE and Eliza Georgina WOOD , in St Peter’s Hackney. (3) Albert Edward Parris [ 10 ] . (4) James [ 11 ] . (5) Henry Parris [ 12 ] . (6) Ethel Elizabeth , born 31/8/1900 in Shoreditch. On 6/5/1922, when Ethel was age 21, she married Joseph LING (1900-?) in St Peter's, De Beauvoir Town, Hackney, London. (7) Alfred Thomas [ 13 ] . (8) George [ 14 ] . 9. Frank Frederick JOHNSON [ Parents ]. Born 1873 in Chatham, Kent, Frank died 1930 in Hackney, age 56. Occupation: Street trader. In 1899, when Frank was age 25, he married Martha Matilda WHILEY in Shoreditch. Martha was born 1876 in London and died 1958 in Stoke Newington, age 81. They had the following children, all baptized in St Peter, De Beauvoir Town, Hackney: (1) Francis Charles , born 31/10/1899 in Islington and baptized 26/11/1899. Private 616507 Francis Johnson, 19th Bn., London Regiment died 2/7/1918, age 18 at an unknown place, during the Great War. Francis is commemorated at the City of London Cemetery, Manor Park. (2) Charles Thomas , born 9/6/1901 in Islington and baptized 21/7/1901. (3) William James , born 25/10/1903 in Islington and baptized 22/11/1903. (4) Annie Elizabeth , born 5/11/1906 in Islington and baptized 2/12/1906.
