16. William PARRIS [ Parents ]. Baptized 28/11/1828 in Stoke, Kent, William died 1901 in Cliffe at Hoo, age 72. Occupation: Agricultural Labourer. In 1848, when William was age 20, he married Ann BAKER in Hoo, Kent. Born 1828 in Halstow, Kent, it is not known when Ann died. They had the following children: (1) William [ 38 ] . (2) James , baptized 16/2/1851 in St Helen’s, Cliffe at Hoo. (3) George , baptized 27/6/1852 in St James’ Church, Cooling. (4) Ann , born about 1855 in Cliffe. (5) Henry , born 1859. (6) Sally , born 1861. (7) Emily , baptized 2/8/1863 in Higham. Emily had a child, Edward George PARRIS . His father is not named in the baptism record. (8) Eliza , born 1865. (9) John [ 39 ] . (10) Elizabeth , born 1872. 17. William PARRIS [ Parents ]. Born 14/11/1863 in Stone by Dartford, William died 1940 in Morden, Surrey, age 76. Occupation: Metropolitan Police Constable (1891); Furniture dealer (1901); French polisher (1911). On 14/11/1889, when William was age about 25, he married Christian Caroline MINETT in St Martin-in-the- Fields, London. Christian Caroline was born 1852 in Leatherhead, Surrey, and died 1932 in Kingston, age 79. They had the following children: (1) Norman Jack , born 8/8/1890 in Westminster, London. On 25/12/1915, when Norman was age 25, he married his cousin Edith Ethel PARRIS (see family 18 below) in the Parish Church, Eltham. (2) Reginald William , born 1891 in Westminster. (3) Doris Marion , born 1893 in Croydon. (4) Archibald Mark , born 1894 in Liverton, Surrey. Archibald Charles died 15/7/1916 during the Battle of the Somme and is commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial, France. 18. Arthur PARRIS [ Parents ]. Born 1866 in Chislehurst and baptized 18/8/1866 in St John the Evangelist, Sidcup. Arthur died 1924 in Lewisham, age 58. Occupation: Infantry private (1891); Horse keeper on farm (1901); Labourer (1911). In 1891, when Arthur was age about 24, he married Mary Ann GODDARD in Canterbury. Mary Ann was born about 1874 in Frimley. It is not known when she died. They had the following children: (1) Ellen Annie , born 1892 in Canterbury. (2) Edith Ethel , born 1/4/1895 in Ramsgate. On 25/12/1915, when Edith was age 20, she married her cousin Norman Jack PARRIS (see family 17 above) in the Parish Church, Eltham. (3) Arthur Charles , born about 1898 in Kingston, Surrey. (4) Winifred May , born 1899 in Lewisham. (5) Millicent , born about 1906 in Lewisham. 19. John PARRIS [ Parents ]. Born 11/2/1868 in Sheerness, John died 14/10/1933 in New South Wales, Australia, age 65. On 4/12/1888, when John was age 20, he married Kate Jane SULLIVAN , daughter of John Michael O’SULLIVAN and Jane Ann WATKINS , in Portsea Register Office, Hampshire. Kate was born about 1865 in Upnor, Kent and died in 1937 in Port Melbourne, Australia, age about 71. They had the following children, both born Sheerness: (1) Violet May , born 23/1/1899. 2) Redvers John , baptized 20/6/1900 in Holy Trinity church, Sheerness. His birth was registered in the quarter ending June 1900 (in the Sheppey district, Kent), however his Attestation papers for the Australian military gives a birth date of 2/11/1899. The discrepancy may be explained by an unusually late registration, some 5-7 months after the event. Redvers John served in the army from 2/5/1918 to 30/8/1918 when he was discharged as medically unfit. He never served abroad, spending the entirety of his short military career in Broadmeadows, west of Melbourne, the main camp for the reception and training of recruits. 20. Ernest John PARRIS [ Parents ]. Born 21/1/1883 in St Saviour, Southwark and baptized 6/2/1883 in All Hallows, Southwark. Ernest John died 1934 in Portsmouth, age 51. In 1903, when Ernest John was age about 20, he married Elizabeth Mary A. DOWNS in Portsmouth. Elizabeth Mary was born about 1883 in Portsea and died in 1966, age about 83. They had the following children, all born Portsmouth: (1) Ernest Samuel J , born about 1904. (2) Alfred James , born 5/1/1906 and died July 1989, age 83. (3) Reginald Charles [ 40 ] . (4) Victor , born 1910 and died in 1996, age about 85. (5) Ethel , born about 1913. (6) Leonard W , born 1916 and died in 1989, age about 73. (7) Harold , born 16/7/1918 and died in 1990, age about 72. (8) Irene , born 1921.
