8. Richard Shoebridge HOMEWOOD [ Parents ]. Born 19/12/1857 in the Union Workhouse , West Malling, Richard died 6/11/1939 in Fitchburg, Massachusetts, USA, age 81. Richard emigrated there in 1920. In 1878, when Richard was age about 20, he married Mary Ann ROOTS , daughter of William ROOTS and Hannah PARRIS , in Malling. They had the following children, all born Halling: (1) Lilian Maria , born about 1879. (2) Annie Rose , born 1880. (3) William Henry , born 1882. (4) Albert James , born 29/9/1888 and died in November 1896, age 8. (5) Edith Clara , born 1891 and died September 1892. (6) Dorothy Maud , born 1893 and died 3/8/1969, age about 76. (7) Elizabeth Agnes , born 2/12/1894 and died 10/12/1987 in the USA (exact place unknown), age 93. (8) Alan Frank , born and died 1899. (9) Henry , born 17/9/1901 and baptized 17/11/1901 in St John the Baptist, Halling. Henry died October 1972, age 71. (10) Kathleen Mary , born 1908 and died 27/9/1995, age about 87. Herbert Ambrose HOMEWOOD [ Parents ]. Born 9/9/1884 in Halling, Herbert Ambrose died 1963 in Dartford, age about 78. Occupation: Engine driver’s mate (1901; Signalman (1911); Labourer at cement works (1939). On 15/9/1910, when Herbert Ambrose was age 26, he married Constance WILLARD (1890-1973), daughter of Thomas WILLARD , a Butcher, in St John the Baptist, Halling. They had the following children, all born in Halling and baptized in St John the Baptist: (1) Henry Thomas , born 9/1/1911 and baptized 12/3/1911. He died in September 1997 in Maidstone, age 86. (2) Robert Ambrose , born 27/5/1912 and baptized 4/8/1912. He died in 1979 in Brighton, age 67. (3) Mabel Dorothy Agnes , born 16/3/1914 and baptized 3/5/1912. She died in October 1985 in Chatham, age 71. In 1934, when Mabel was age 20, she married William GORRINGE (1910-1975) in Malling. (4) Ernest Noel , born 19/9/1915 and baptized 24/10/1915. He died in October 1990 in Maidstone, age 75. (5) Harold Ralph , born 19/1/1918 and baptized 10/3/1918. It’s not known when he died. (6) Herbert George , born about October 1919 and baptized 19/10/1919. It’s not known when he died. (7) Ronald John , born 24/8/1922 and baptized 17/9/1922. He died in 2007, age about 85. In 1945, when Ronald was age 22, he married Heather Doris MONK (1924-2019) in Dartford. 8) Margaret Edna , born 5/2/1925 and baptized 31/5/1925. She died 15/10/2016 in Bude, Cornwall, age 91.
