The Beadle Family of Hadlow, Kent

9. Albon BEADLE [Parents]. Born 1866 in Snodland, it is not known when Albon died.

In 1891, when Albon was age about 24, he married Emma Elizabeth BROWN in Strood. Emma was born about 1863 in Shorne and died in 1900, age about 37.

They had the following child:

(1) Stanley, born about 1897 and died 1898, age about 1.

On 21/2/1911, when Albon was age 44, he married Mary Jane PURVIS, daughter of Andrew PURVIS and Mary Jane BOYDE, in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada. Mary was born about 1871, location unknown. There is no evidence they had any children.

10.Link to census Charles BEADLE [Parents]. Born about 1854 in Halling, Charles died 1902 in Burham, age about 49. Occupation: Chalk Labourer.

In 1877, when Charles was age about 23, he married Sarah CHEESEMAN, daughter of James CHEESEMAN, in Malling.  Sarah was born about 1857 in Burham.  It is not known when she died.

They had the following children, all born in Burham:

(1) Arthur, born about 1878. (2) Charles, born about 1889. (3) Bertha, born about 1882.

11.Link to census William BEADLE [Parents]. Born about 1857 in Upper Halling, William died 1918 in Malling, age about 61. Occupation: Chalk labourer.

In 1884, when William was age about 27, he married Mary Ann WINGATE in Malling. Mary Ann was born about 1862 in Snodland. It is not known when she died.

They had the following children, all born and, where given, baptized and died, in Snodland, Kent:

(1) Minnie Violet, born 1885. (2) Alice Daisy, born about 1887. (3) Dora Mary, born about 1890. (4) Edith, born about 1893. (5) Rayden Wingate, baptized 27/12/1895 in All Saints Church and died 1896, age under 1. (6) Amos Harry, baptized 15/4/1897 in All Saints Church and died 1897, age under 1. (7) William, born and died 1898, age under 1. (8) Mona Sarah, born about 1900. (9) Charles Edward, born 1903. (10) Clara Agnes, born 1906.

12.Link to census Frederick BEADLE [Parents]. Born about 1860 in Upper Halling, it is not known when Frederick died. Occupation: Variously chalk/lime/cement labourer.

In 1885, when William was age about 25, he married Fanny WOODING in Malling. Fanny was born about 1862 in Snodland. It is not known when she died.

They had the following children:

(1) Frederick, born about 1886 in Halling. (2) Grace Harriett, born 1891 in Snodland. (3) Ada, born 1894 in Snodland. (4) Florence Maud, born 1896 in Snodland. (5) Norah, born 1899 in Snodland. (6) Alfred William, born 1907 in Halling. (7) Albert Sidney, born 26/11/1908 and died June 1974 in Chatham, age 65.

13.Link to census Thomas BEADLE [Parents]. Born about 1868 in Burham, Thomas died in March 1942 in Houghton Regis, Bedfordshire, age about 74. Occupation:  Labourer.

In 1889, when Thomas was age about 21, he married Ellen Harriet WOOD in Malling. Ellen was born about 1871 and died 1889 in Malling, age about 18.

They had the following child:

(1) Thomas, born about December 1889 in Snodland.

One Henry John BEADLE, age 0, has the same GRO death reference as Ellen. This suggests Ellen gave birth to twins, with only Thomas surviving.

In 1894, when Thomas was age about 26, Thomas married Ada Elizabeth CREW in Luton. Ada was born about 1875 in Houghton Regis. It is not known when she died.

They had the following children, all born Houghton Regis:

(1) Maud, born about 1896. (2) Ada May, born 1897. (3) Minnie, born  1898. (4) Doris, born 1900. (5) Ivy Charlotte, born 1902. (6) Frederick Charles, born about March 1904.

14.Henry Thomas Beadle census Henry Thomas BEADLE [Parents]. Born 27/9/1875 in Burham and baptized there 3/1/1877. Henry was known as Harry during his lifetime. Henry Thomas died 13/3/1950 in Romford, Essex, age 74. He was buried 18/3/1950 in Havering. Occupation: Commercial traveller (1901, 1911); Petroleum assistant manager (retired) 1939).

An entry in the National Probate Calendar reads “Beadle Harry of 171 North Street Romford Essex died 13 March 1950 Administration London 27 May to Mary Winifred Beadle widow and Ronald George Beadle petroleum company clerk. Effects £2032 3s.” (Worth around £68,275 today.)

On 20 /4/1901, when Henry was age 25, he married Mary Winifred BURGESS, daughter of Alfred BURGESS (deceased) a labourer, in the Holy Trinity church, Tottenham. Mary Winifred was born 9/8/1876 in Halling, Kent, and died 5/2/1958 in Romford, age 81. Her entry in the National Probate Calendar reads: “BEADLE Mary Winifred of 171 North Street Romford Essex widow died 5 February 1958 Administration London 7 March to Ronald George Beadle senior clerk. Effects £454 1s. 4d.” (Worth around £10,442 today.)

They had the following children:

(1) Ronald George, born 20/8/1901 in Tottenham and died 19/12/1982 in Perryfields Welfare Home, Hendon, age 81. (2) Harry, born 22/11/1903 in East Ham, Essex, and died 18/5/1966 in the Royal Northern Hospital, Islington, London, age 62. His entry in the National Probate Calendar reads: “BEADLE Harry of Windyridge The Ridgeway Cuffley Hertfordshire died 18 May 1966 at The Royal Northern Hospital Holloway London Probate London 3 August to Annie Laurie Beadle widow, £14494.” (Worth around £266,800 today.) (3) Kenneth James, born 7/4/1910 in Watford and died 1974 in Chatham. (4) Winifred Violet, born 28/4/1912 in Watford and died November 1992 in Havering, age 80.
