The Beadle Family of Hadlow, Kent

1.Link to census Charles BEADLE. Born about 1794 in Hadlow, Charles died quarter ending June 1864 in Malling, age about 70. Occupation:  Labourer & (in 1861) a sack mender & marker at a cement works.

On 7/11/1826, when Charles was age about 32, he married Eleanor HUMPHRY in Hadlow. Born about 1804 in Shipbourne, Eleanor died quarter ending September 1871, age about 67.

They had the following children:

(1) Edward Humphry [2]. (2) Mary, baptized 1/4/1827 in Hadlow. (3) Charles [3]. (4) Henry [4]. (5) Caroline, baptized 31/7/1831 in Hadlow. (6) Anne, baptized 7/4/1833 in Hadlow. (7) William, born about 1835 in Halling & died quarter ending March 1904 in Malling, age given as 68. (8) John, born about 1837 in Halling. (9) George [5]. (10) Frances, born about 1844 in Snodland.

2.Link to census Edward Humphry BEADLE [Parents]. Born about 1826 in Hadlow, Edward died 2/2/1902 in Snodland, age about 76. Occupation: Labourer, foreman at chalk works.

On 22/7/1848, when Edward was age about 22, he married Eliza PARRIS, daughter of James PARRIS & Mary Ann HARRIS, at St John the Baptist Church, Halling. Baptized 26/8/1827 in Halling, Eliza died 27/1/1918 in Snodland, age 90.

They had the following children:

(1) Ellen Ann [6]. (2) Edward William [7]. (3) Henry Thomas [8]. (4) Emma, born about 1854 in Halling. (5) Walter Allen, born quarter ending March 1857 in Snodland. In the quarter ending June 1883, when Walter Allen was age about 27, he married Maria SWEETYER in Malling. There is no evidence they had any children. Walter Allen died quarter ending December 1903, age about 46. (6) Mary Ann, born quarter ending September 1859 in Snodland. (7) John Parris, born quarter ending March 1861 in Snodland. (8) Ann Eliza, born quarter ending June 1864 in Snodland. Ann Eliza died on 15/1/1876, age 11. (9) Albon [9].  (10) Florence Minnie, born quarter ending December 1871 in Snodland. Florence Minnie died 13/1/1876, age 4.

3.Link to census Charles BEADLE [Parents]. Baptized 5/10/1828 in Hadlow, Charles died quarter ending March 1906 in Malling, age 77. Occupation: Lime labourer, chalk labourer and finally Foreman of lime works.

On 4/6/1853, when Charles was age 24, he married Harriett PARRIS, daughter of James PARRIS & Mary Ann HARRIS, at the Parish Church, Halling. Baptized 16/5/1834 in Halling, Harriett died quarter ending June 1895 in Malling, age 61.

They had the following children:

(1) Charles [10]. (2) Albert, born about 1856 in Halling. (3) William [11]. (4) Frederick [12]. (5) Clara, born about 1864 in Upper Halling. Clara married Alfred MONK, born 9/1/1862. Alfred was her first cousin & son of Alfred MONK & Jane PARRIS. (6) Alfred, born about 1866 in Upper Halling. (7) Thomas [13]. (8) Esther, born quarter ending June 1870 in Burham. (9) Sarah Ann, born quarter ending September 1872 in Burham. (10) Laura Ellen, born quarter ending September 1873 in Burham. (11) Henry Thomas, born quarter ending March 1875 in Burham. (12) Ada, born quarter ending March 1878 in Burham. (13) Edith Maude, born quarter ending September 1880 in Burham.

4.Link to census Henry BEADLE [Parents]. Baptized 3/1/1830 in Hadlow, Henry died quarter ending March 1900 in Malling. Occupation: variously lime labourer, chalk labourer, licensed victualler.

In the quarter ending December 1858, when Henry was age about 28, he married Eliza BRAIN in Maidstone. Born about 1832 in Birling, it is not known when Eliza died.

They had the following children:

(1) John Thomas [14]. (2) Edith Isabella, born quarter ending March 1862 in Snodland. (3) Amy, born quarter ending December 1866 in Snodland.

5.Link to census George BEADLE [Parents]. Born quarter ending June 1840 in Halling, George died quarter ending September 1920 in Medway, age 80. Occupation: Variously farm labourer, lime labourer, machinist, engine fitter.

In quarter ending June 1866, when George was age about 26, he married Sarah Maria BUTCHER in Maidstone. Sarah was born quarter ending September 1846 in Strood & died there quarter ending March 1895, age about 48.

They had the following children, both born Frindsbury:

(1) Frances E, born about 1871. (2) Hannah, born quarter ending March 1873.
