This is page 2 of 4 tracing the descendants of of Joshua Harris & Rebeckah MacQuire, originally of Harrold, Bedfordshire. Later generations lived in Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire & Northamptonshire. It shows the fourth generation link by marriage to the Jones family. There are two more Harris families in our tree, from Brenchley & Halling, Kent. As far as we know they are not connected. Third Generation (continued)

5.Link to census Thomas HARRIS [Parents]. Born 1824 & baptized 25/12/1832 in Harrold, Thomas died quarter ending March 1897 in St Albans, age given as 69. Occupation: Carpenter.

On 2/8/1846, when Thomas was age about 22, he married Eliza HEATHFIELD in Caddington, Bedfordshire. Born about 1823 in Campton, Eliza died in January 1874 in St Albans, age 50, and was buried 17/1/1874 in St Peter’s Church.

They had the following children:

(1) Thomas William, baptized 29/7/1847, died 9/1/1849 age 17 months. (2) William, born about 1848 in St Albans & died there quarter ending September 1856, age about 8. (3) Arthur, born about 1849. (4) Thomas Henry [9]. (5) Frederick George [10]. (6) Louisa, born quarter ending March 1861 in St Albans.

6.Link to census William John HARRIS [Parents]. Baptized 25/12/1832 in Harrold, William died in January 1894 in Kingsthorpe, Northamptonshire, age 62, and was buried there 22/1/1894. Occupation: Brickyard Foreman.

William married Rebecca.  No further details are known.

They had the following children:

(1) William Frederick [11]. (2) James, born quarter ending March 1860 in Winslow, Buckinghamshire. (3) Rhoda, born about 1862 in Winslow. (4) Robert George, born quarter ending March 1864 in Winslow. (5) Thomas James, born quarter ending March 1868 in Towcester. On 26/12/1898, when Thomas was age 30, he married Matilda WARD , daughter of Thomas WARD, a Farm bailiff, in Grendon Parish Church, Northamptonshire. Born about 1874 in Grendon, it is not know when Matilda died. (6) John Henry, born quarter ending December 1872 in Towcester. In the quarter ending March 1897, when John was age 25, he married Alice SAVAGE in Kettering. Alice was born about 1872, also in Kettering.

Fourth Generation

7.Link to census Arthur HARRIS [Parents]. Born quarter ending June 1851 in Mortimer, Berkshire, Arthur died quarter ending September 1890 in Reading, age 39. Occupation: Baker.

In the quarter ending September 1873, when Arthur was age 22, he married Patience Kate CHILDS in Reading. Patience was born about 1851 in Sulhamstead, Berkshire. It is not known when she died.

They had the following children:

(1) Arthur William [12]. (2) Edward Charles [13]. (3) Harry, born about 1877 in Reading. (4) Annie, born quarter ending March 1881 in Reading.

8.Link to census George HARRIS [Parents]. Born around May 1849 in Harrold & baptized there 27/5/1849. George died quarter ending December 1910 in Northampton, age 61. Occupation: Painter & Glazier.

In the quarter ending June 1874, when George was age about 25, he married Clara DOUGLAS in Northampton. Clara was born about 1850 in Northampton and died in 1930 in Northampton, age about 79.

They had the following children, all born Northampton:

(1) Robert William, born quarter ending June 1875. (2) William [14]. (3) Tom, born 31/3/1881 in St Giles, Northampton and died quarter ending March 1966 in Brackley, Northamptonshire, age about 84. In 1912, when Tom was age about 30, he married Fanny MONK (1882-1964) in Northampton. (4) Kate Rootham, born 29/11/1885 and died 1973 in Northampton, age 87. In 1912, when Kate was age 26, she married Bryan George WATERFIELD (1882-1965), son of Thomas Bryan & Martha WATERFIELD, in Northampton.

9.Link to census Thomas Henry HARRIS [Parents]. Born quarter ending March 1853 in St Albans, it is not known when Thomas died. Occupation: Carpenter & joiner, known to have worked for E. Seymour & Son, Funeral Directors in St Albans. The company remains in business today.

On 25/12/1879, when Thomas was age about 26 (although his marriage certificate gives age 21), Thomas Henry married Jane Elizabeth KILBY, daughter of George and Anna KILBY, in St Peter's Church, Walworth, St Mary Newington, Surrey. Born late 1858 in St Albans and baptized 30/1/1859 in St Albans Abbey, it’s not known when Jane Elizabeth died.

They had the following children, all born in St Albans:

(1) George Francis, born quarter ending June 1881. George may have died in infancy; he does not appear in the 1891 or subsequent censuses. (2) Lilian Maud, born quarter ending September 1883. (3) Jane, born quarter ending December 1885. (4) Florence Alice, born quarter ending September 1887. (5) Percy, born quarter ending December 1889. (6) Ernest George, born quarter ending December 1892. (7) Elsie Mabel, born quarter ending December 1896. (8) Stanley Ralph, born quarter ending December 1901 in St Albans & died there quarter ending March 1962, age 60. In the quarter ending December 1921, when Stanley was age about 20, he married May Doris WARWICK, daughter of Herbert WARWICK & BERTHA GENTLE, in St Albans. May was born 21/8/1901 in Harpenden & baptized there 27/10/1901. It is not known when May died.
