13. Harry HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 10/7/1868 in Birstall and baptized 25/12/1871 in St Mary, Beeston. Harry died 1944 in Morley, age about 76. Occupation: Warp dresser in mill. On 24/5/1890, when Harry was age about 22, he married Alice SCALING (1863-1946), daughter of James SCALING , a Plumber, in St Peter’s Church, Leeds, Yorkshire. (2) Eleanor (also known as Ellen or Nellie), born 17/2/1892 in Beeston and died about 1977. (3) Rowland , born 28/1/1895 in Beeston and died 1946 in Morley, age 51. In 1921, when Rowland was age 26, he married Mary Jane HODGSON (1896-1972) in Morley. (4) Arthur , born about 1897 in Beeston. Arthur was killed in action on 27/7/1917 in Belgium, age 20. He was buried at the Ramscappelle Military Cemetery, Nieuwpoort, West Vlaanderen, Belgium. (5) Mary , born 7/4/1899 in Morley and died about 1985. (6) Albert Edward , born ⅝/1901 in Morley and died 1960 in Harrogate, age 59. (7) Tom , born 17/5/1903 in Morley and died 1989 in Horncastle, Lincolnshire, age 86. In 1934, when Tom was age 30, he married Kathleen Sarah PACEY (1907-1969) in Morley. 14. Herbert HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 10/8/1871 in Beeston and baptized 25/12/1871 in St Mary, Beeston. The baptismal first names were recorded as William Tempest, rather than Herbert. However, there is no birth registration for a William Tempest Howard, only for Herbert. This registration is consistent with an August birth and the registration district (Holbeck) included Beeston where the family lived. It is not known when Herbert died but it was after 1911 he appears in that year’s census. Occupation: Soldier (1891); Warp Dresser in a woollen mill (1901, 1911). On 24/12/1891, when Herbert was age 20, he married Ada LEE (1869-1918) in St Peter’s Parish Church, Leeds, Yorkshire. They had the following children: (1) Jesse , born 1898 in Churwell and baptized 15/11/1900 in St Peter with Churwell & All Saints, Morley. He died 1/8/1918 in Italy, age 20, serving as a driver with the 3rd Brigade Royal Field Artillery. (2) Lee , born 1900 in Churwell and baptized 15/11/1900 in St Peter with Churwell & All Saints. He died 16/11/1984 in the Royal Victoria Hospital, Folkestone, age 84, and was buried 22/11/1984 in Hawkinge Cemetery. On 1/11/1922, when Lee was age 22, he married Caroline CRANSON (1900-1962) in St Andrew, Bruntcliffe, Yorkshire. (3) Fanny , born 2/8//1902 in Morley and baptized 14/9/1904 in St Paul, Morley. She died 1975 in Dewsbury, age 72. In 1945, when Fanny was age 43, she married John Firth HOPKINSON (1901-1947) in Spen Valley, Yorkshire. (4) Lister , born 24/5/1904 in Morley and baptized 14/9/1904 in St Paul, Morley. On 23/12/1934, when Lister was age 30, he married Dorothy Audrey LAWRENCE (1910-1980) in St Martin's Church, Dover. (5) Stanley Melville , born 4/5/1908 in Morley and baptized 1/7/1908 at St Paul, Morley. He died 1973 in Cockermouth, Cumberland, age 64. 15. Julius HOWARD [ Parents ]. Born 9/7/1887 in Delph, Saddleworth, Julius died 13/9/1951 in Fleetwood, age 64. Occupation: Woollen weaver. Military: Private, 2nd Battalion, Yorkshire Regiment during World War 1. An entry in the National Probate Calendar reads: “HOWARD Julius of 119 Promenade Blackpool died 13 September 1951 at The Hospital Rossall Fleetwood Lancashire Administration (with Will) London 5 November to Ethel Howard widow and Eric Bradbury Howard civil servant. Effects £186 15s 4d.” (The equivalent of around £6,100 today.) On 28/4/1917, when Julius was age about 28, he married Ethel BRADBURY , daughter of Joseph BRADBURY and Ann Eliza WRIGLEY , in St Chad, Saddleworth. Born 16/11/1893 in Saddleworth, Ethel died 29/4/1962 in Blackpool, age 68. They had the following children: (1) Eric Bradbury , born 24/11/1925 in Platt Lane, Dobcross, Saddleworth and died 3/11/1980 in Hambleton, Poulton-le-Fylde, age 54. (2) Nina Elizabeth , born 19/10/1923 in Saddleworth and died 1967 in Lower Agbrigg, age about 44. In 1947, when Nina Elizabeth was age about 23, she married James MORETON in Blackpool.
