Sixth Generation
16. William PARRIS [Parents]. Baptized 28/11/1828 in Stoke, Kent, William died in
1901. Occupation: Agricultural Labourer.
In the quarter ending December 1848, when William was age about 20, he married Ann
BAKER in Hoo, Kent Born 1828 in Halstow, Kent, it is not known when Ann died.
They had the following children:
(1) William [38]. (2) James, baptized 16/2/1851 at St Helen’s Church, Cliffe at
Hoo. (3) George, baptized 27/6/1852 at St James’ Church, Cooling. (4) Ann, born
about 1855 in Cliffe. (5) Henry, born 1859. (6) Sally, born quarter ending December
1861. (7) Emily, born 1863. (8) Eliza, born quarter ending December 1865. (9) John
[39]. (10) Elizabeth, born 1872.
17. William PARRIS [Parents]. Born quarter ending December 1863 in Stone by Dartford.
It is not known when William died. Occupation: Metropolitan Police Constable (1891);
Furniture Dealer (1901).
On 14/11/1889, when William was age about 25, he married Christina Caroline MINETT
in Strand, London. Christina Caroline was born about 1860 in Leatherhead, Surrey.
It is not known when she died.
They had the following children:
(1) Norman Jack, born 8/8/1890 in Westminster, London. In 1915, when Norman was age
about 25, he married his cousin Edith Ethel PARRIS
in Lewisham.
(2) Reginald William,
born quarter ending September 1891 in Westminster. (3) Doris Marion, born quarter
ending June 1893 in Croydon, Surrey. (4) Archibald Mark, born quarter ending December
1894 in Liverton, Surrey. Archibald Charles died 15/7/1916 during the Battle of the
Somme and is commemorated at the Thiepval Memorial, France.
18. Arthur PARRIS [Parents]. Born 1867 in Chislehurst. It is not known when Arthur
died. Occupation: Infantry private (1891); Horse keeper on farm (1901).
In the quarter ending December 1891, when Arthur was age about 24, he married Mary Ann GODDARD in Canterbury. Mary Ann was born about 1874 in Frimley. It is not known when she died.
They had the following children:
(1) Ellen Annie, born quarter ending June 1892 in Canterbury. (2) Edith Ethel, born 1/4/1895 in Ramsgate. In the quarter ending December 1915, when Edith was age 20, she married her cousin Norman Jack PARRIS in Lewisham. (3) Arthur Charles, born quarter ending March 1898 in Kingston, Surrey. (4) Winifred May, born quarter ending December 1899 in Lewisham. (5) Millicent, born quarter ending March 1906 in Lewisham.
19. John PARRIS [Parents]. Born quarter ending March 1868 in Sheerness. It is not
known when John died but it was after 1901; he appeared in that year’s census.
In the quarter ending December 1888, he married Kate Jane SULLIVAN in Portsea, Hampshire.
Kate was born about 1868 in Upnor, Kent.
They had the following children, both born Sheerness:
(1) Violet May, born quarter ending March 1899. (2) Redvers John, born quarter ending
June 1900.
20. Ernest John PARRIS [Parents]. Born 21/1/1883 in St Saviour, Southwark. It is
not known when Ernest John died.
In the quarter ending March 1903, when Ernest John was age about 20, he married Elizabeth
Mary A DOWNS in Portsmouth. Elizabeth Mary was born quarter ending March 1883 in
Portsea and died in 1966, age about 83.
They had the following children, all born Portsmouth:
(1) Ernest Samuel J, born quarter ending March 1904. (2) Alfred James, born 5/1/1906 and died July 1989, age 83. (3) Reginald Charles [40]. (4) Victor, born quarter ending September 1910 and died 1996, age about 85. (5) Ethel L. E., born quarter ending March 1913. (6) Leonard W., born quarter ending June 1916 and died 1989, age about 73. (7) Harold, born 16/7/1918 and died 1990, age about 72. (8) Irene B. M., born quarter ending June 1921.
21. William PARRIS [Parents]. Born 1852 in Halling. Occupation: Metropolitan Police
Constable.
In the quarter ending March 1870, when William was age 18, he married Emma TAYLOR.
Emma was born about 1853 in Dartford.

(1) Emma, born about 1872 in Halling. In the quarter ending June 1898, when Emma
was age about 26, she married William James FRYER in Dartford. William James was
born about 1864 in Forest Hill, London. (2) Ada, born 13/12/1873 in Southwark and
baptized 5/7/1882 at All Saints, Belvedere, Kent. (3) William [41]. (4) Lillie,
born 26/11/1879 in Erith and baptized 5/7/1882 at All Saints, Belvedere. (5) Ethel
M, born about 1883 in Belvedere. (6) Mabel Sarah, born 30/41885 in Belvedere and
baptized 5/7/1882 at All Saints, Belvedere.
22. Thomas P. PARRIS [Parents]. Born in 1853 in Halling, Kent. Thomas died in 1892
age 39 and was buried 6/8/1892 in Halling.
On 4/8/1884 when Thomas was 31, he married Rhoda TOMKIN, daughter of George Richard
TOMKIN & Ansley TAPP, in Halling. Rhoda was born 1865 and died February 1940, age
about 74. She was buried 8/2/1940 in Halling.
They had the following children:
(1) Edward Thomas [42]. (2) Arabella Frances, born 1888 in Halling. Arabella died
1905, age 17 and was buried 15/5/1905 in Halling. (3) Alfred George, born 1890 in
Halling. Alfred died in 1894 age 4 and was buried 2/8/1894 in Upper Halling. (4) Albert
William, born in 1892. Occupation: Army Vetinary Corps. On 8/1/1916, when Albert
William was age about 24, he married Annie Clara EXCELL at the Parish Church, Halling,
Kent.
23. James PARRIS [Parents]. Born 21/5/1857 in Halling. James died 25/5/1938. Occupation:
Bootmaker.
In the quarter ending June 1879, when James was age about 22, he married Ellen Elizabeth
DAWSON (nee SACKER) in Dartford. Born about 1843. Ellen died sometime between 1881
and 1882.
They had the following child:
(1) Richard John [43].
In the quarter ending March 1883, when James was age 25, he married Minnie RAINER
in Woolwich. Minnie was born about 1864 in Tunbridge and died quarter ending September
1900 in Dartford, age 37.
They had the following children, all born Belvedere:
(1) Phyllis F. E., born about 1884. (2) Minnie, born quarter ending March 1886.
(3) James, born quarter ending September 1887. (4) Vivien, born about 1889. (5) Winifred
Hilda, born quarter ending September 1891. (6) Arthur Albert, born quarter ending
March 1897.
On 31/3/1902, when James was age 44, he married Lily PETERS at the Parish Church, Erith. Lily’s father was given as Thomas Peters, a Plasterer. Witnesses were T. Peters and Ann Elizabeth May Hill. Lily was born 15/12/1880 in Crayford and died 21/5/1923.
They had the following children, both born in Belvedere:
(1) Lily Irene, born 22/2/1903 . Lily Irene died 24/3/1987. (2) Doris, born 2/2/1910.
Lily Irene died 28/11/1998.
In 1924, when James was age about 67, he married Ellen DUDLEY. They had one child who is still living.
24. Richard John PARRIS [Parents]. Born quarter ending June 1859 in Halling, Richard
died in 1942 age 83 and was buried 13/8/1942 in Halling cemetery. Occupation: Chalk
labourer.
In the quarter ending September 1880, when Richard John was age 22, he married Eliza
Jane CAPON in Malling. Eliza was born about 1859 in Snodland and died 1913, age
about 54. She was buried 12/4/1913 in Halling cemetery.
They had the following children:
(1) Richard Ernest, born quarter ending June 1882 in Snodland. (2) Ebenezer Thomas, born quarter ending June 1883 in Snodland. Ebenezer died in 1964 also in Snodland, age about 81. (3) Rosina Mary, born quarter ending June 1885 in Snodland. (4) Frederick Charles, born quarter ending June 1886 in Birling. (5) Daisy Eliza, born quarter ending January 1888 in Birling. Daisy died 1918 in Maidstone, age about 30. (6) Ruth Rebecca, born quarter ending December 1889 in Birling. (7) Elsie Jane, born quarter ending June 1891 in Birling. Eliza died in 1901, age about 10. (8) Herbert Capon, born quarter ending December 1892 in Birling. (9) William Leonard [44]. (10) Edith Naomi, born quarter ending March 1900 in Snodland.
