Fifth Generation
12. George Osman JONES [ Parents ]. Born 28/4/1908 in Somerby, Leicestershire, George died 27/12/1956 at the Royal Infirmary in Leicester, age 48. Occupation: Engineer’s fitter. On 3/6/1933, when George was age 25, he married Gertrude COOK in the Parish Church, Melton Mowbray. Gertrude was born 12/11/1910 in Melton Mowbray and died there 9/2/1993, age 82. They had the following children: (1) Ralph , born 29/3/1936 in Melton Mowbray and died 8/3/2009 in Hungerford, Berkshire, age 73. Ralph held eight British championship gliding titles also received a diploma from the British Gliding Association in 1995 for flying 750 kilometres non-stop, a rare achievement in the UK. And 2 others who are still living. Click/tap image to enlarge . 13. Betty Doris JONES [ Parents ]. Born 22/11/1922 in Lewisham, Betty Doris died 12/4/2003, age 80, and was buried 24/4/2003 at Marston Lane cemetery, Bedworth, Warwickshire. On 31/3/1951, when Betty was age 28, she married Donald William HAYWARD (1928-2015), son of William George HAYWARD and Ivy Florence Rhoda FORSEY , in St Peter’s Church, St Albans. They had 1 child who is still living. In 1969, when Betty was age 47, she married Arthur Edwin CULLIMORE in Lewes, Sussex. Arthur was born 12/10/1908 in Camberwell, London, and died October 1988 in Lewes, Sussex, age 80. They had no children. 14. Peter Leslie JONES [ Parents ]. Born 17/2/1926 in Lewisham, Peter Leslie died 26/9/2002 at George Eliot Hospital, Nuneaton, age 76, and was buried 7/10/2002 in Marston Lane cemetery, Bedworth, Warwickshire. Along with his siblings, Peter was evacuated from London in summer 1939 to Young Manor Farm, Chilham, Kent. He served in the Airborne Division during that war and took part in the parachute drop over the Rhine with the 6th Air Landing Brigade in 1945. Later, he was a Sergeant in the Royal Military Police in Trieste, Italy. After leaving the army, Peter worked for an undertaker. He was Industrial fire officer, later security officer, for Armstrong Whitworth, Hawker Siddeley, Rootes, Chrysler-Talbot and Jaguar before retiring in 1986. Click/tap image to enlarge . Taken in 1951. In 1951, when Peter was age 25, he married Florence PITT (1922-?) in Coventry. They divorced in the 1960s and had no children. Peter’s second wife and their children are still living.
